After A Decorated Career The Canadian Forward Is Hanging Up Her Skates

Sarah Fillier: Olympic gold medalist and Princeton star announces retirement

After a decorated career, the Canadian forward is hanging up her skates

Fillier made her Olympic debut at Beijing 2022, where she helped Team Canada win the gold medal. She scored eight goals to rank second on the team in scoring and was named to the tournament all-star team.

Fillier also had a successful collegiate career at Princeton University, where she led the Tigers to the NCAA championship game in 2021 and 2022. She was named the Ivy League Player of the Year twice and was a three-time All-American.

In addition to her Olympic and collegiate success, Fillier has also represented Canada at the world championships and has won three gold medals.

Fillier's retirement is a major loss for the Canadian national team, which is preparing for the 2023 world championships and the 2026 Olympics. However, she is confident that she is making the right decision.

"I'm so grateful for the opportunities I've had to play hockey," Fillier said. "I've loved every minute of it, but I'm ready for the next chapter in my life."
