Discover how much energy your proposed renewable energy project could generate

Imperial College London and ETH Zürich have developed a web tool that allows users to estimate the amount of energy that could be generated by wind or solar farms at any location in the world.

The tool, called Renewablesninja, is free to use and can be accessed by clicking anywhere on the map on the website.

Users can select a specific location and then choose the type of renewable energy they are interested in, such as wind or solar. The tool will then simulate the hourly power output of a wind or solar farm at that location, taking into account factors such as the weather and the size of the farm.

Renewablesninja can be used to estimate the potential energy output of a proposed renewable energy project, or to compare the potential energy output of different renewable energy technologies.

The tool is based on data from the ERA5 reanalysis dataset, which is produced by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF).
